To solve more complex fluid dynamics and thermodynamic tasks, coupled 3D simulations are used at PTS-Prüftechnik GmbH. Flow phenomena in internal as well as external components or systems are simulated with the help of CFD (computational fluid dynamics). Through this method, local flow behavior regarding the distribution of pressure, speed, density, temperature and concentration is determined. According to the questions posed by our customers, stationary, transient, laminar, turbulent or compressible simulations can be performed as well. These procedures can be simulated adiabatically, while also taking into consideration thermal behavior (heat-transfer, natural or forced convection, radiation, etc.) and if needed, extended with chemical/physical detail models.
A subsequent analysis of the results allows for the evaluation of the calculated properties in the entire modeling area, as well as the display of derived variables such as forces and mass flows. The professional visualization of flow-paths, or the behavior of particles with a specified mass increases the ability of our specialists to derive recommendations for action and subsequently the optimization of functionality and performance.
