In 2009 in Baden Wuerttemberg vocational colleges changed to 'Cooperate University Baden Wuerttemberg' (Dual University Baden Wuerttemberg, DHBW). It is the first dual and practical University in Germany. Unique is the organisational structure, which is oriented to the State University System with a central and dezentral level.
In cooperation with the dual partners 5 fields of studies are offered:
Central characteristic of a dual study is the regularly change between the theory phases at the university and the work experience phases at the educating Dual Partner. This study orientates on actual daily work challenges of job market and the company and guarantees an unique connection of theory and praxis.
The dual model integrates all students from the beginning in world of working and the students learn praxis-oriented. Due to the continuous change between theoetical and practical phases students are able to learn beside technical and methodical knowledge the necessary decision-making and responsibility and social competence. The lion's share of lecturers come from operational and enterpreneurial praxis.
